BABY SHOWER INVITATIONS
It was a rainy day here in Northern Maine, which was much needed as our summer has been extremely warm with temps up in the 80's. I was tickled pink as this gave me the chance to work in the craft room on my nieces baby shower invitation. I did a quick on a couple weeks ago and just didn't warm up to it for the Garden theme we are going with.
I used a soft yellow (Champlain) and kraft cardstock from Bazzle coupled with a natural base. It was a perfect combination that matches the theme perfectly. I will be creating all other items to match.
I played around with several free fonts to get the perfect combination for our theme.
The inside of the invitation also includes a pocket for the gift registry information that the invitees can take with them. On the back of the registry (sorry no picture) is a list of items that the mother to be is looking to have.
The tag above is what I am making for each individual attending the shower. We will be placing all of them on the Advise Tree. I will have more photo's later on that. Each tag opens up so that each guest can leave some words of advise for the new mommy. We are calling it
" THE ADVISE TREE FOR THE NEW MOMMY TO BE"
This is the tree that we will be hanging them on. I will design several different styles of tags.

GARDEN THEME BABY SHOWER 1
(created by Dawn)
My niece Samantha is the first one in our family to have a baby for her generation and we are all very excited. SOOOO of course my sister Dawn and I have been very busy working on the theme and style of the baby shower. The theme is a vintage garden theme with colors of vibrant greens and yellows. We are not going the traditional root of the blues and green and traditional them. This will lend a touch of elegance with the beauty of nature.
I am so excited to put it all together and see how our idea will come to life.
This is the fabric that started it all. Reminds me of Peter Cotton Tail.

Dawn found these adorable topiary animals at Michael's craft store

Love these. The soft yellow is just a perfect color for a baby shower.

This adorable tree will have all the tags hanging for the guest to fill out.
See the tags at the second post HERE.

I just love how all of these came out. The pictures just do not do any of the items any justice. My sister did an awesome job!

I think we just might add those little battery tea lights to these to make them shine.
Love this little bunny

Our sample baby shower favor
CUT FILE THAT I CREATED CAN BE DOWNLOADED BY CLICKING ON THE LINK BELOW.
You must have SCAL 2 in order to be able to use the file. It includes the template for the rattle with the center already cut out for the sweet treats cups from Stampin Up and the matting for the top of the rattle around the "SWEET TREAT CUPS" cup and the matting for the rattle bottom.
These are the baby shower favors. I have the little Embellishments Treat Cups Circle from Stampin Up on order as they will be the center of the rattle filled with green and yellow jelly beans. We are going to go with a softer yellow for the scalloped matting to match the rest of the yellows through out the theme.

This little baby shower invitation is very simplistic but yet elegant. We will be working on getting these all made and mailed out in the next month. We will be including a small business card inside with where she is registered. Along with a little surprise that each guest must bring with them to the shower.

CHRISTMAS STAR BOX
I took a break from sewing this weekend and made some Christmas boxes. I found an awesome site called "My Time Made Easy" there are several cut files and many other goodies.
You can take and size the cut file to the sizes you want. Just be sure you size them all together .
The box I made measures 6x6 width and 2" in depth.
I made the poinsettia from another svg file I had and used a silver gel pen on the edges to make it pop.

MOTHERS DAY CARD 3
This was the last mothers day card I worked on today. Making the scalloped flowers are my favorite paper flowers to make as I just love carnations and that's what these look like to me. I to brown print and teal print paper and created these to give them a blend of the two colors together. I would put one blue then one brown and so on for all 6 circles. I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder "Floral Fantasy". The Stampin Up stamp "Natural Beauty"

PAPER FLOWERS TUTORIAL
PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE
A wonderful PCP Friend asked me HOW DO YOU DO THAT so I thought I would post a small tutorial here. I love making paper flowers and think it will be a great project to work on during the summer season while laying by the lake on the dock or boat. The best part is its okay if they get wet as they will form better.
So with no further ado Barbara here is yout tutorial. ;-)
MATERIALS USED
Cricut Cartridge Story Book
Dry Emossing Pen
Scissors
Foam Pad
Piercing Pen
Card Stock & Printed Paper
1 Brad
STEP 1
I cut the flowers at the following measurements for this project
Bottom Layer - 1 3/4
Middle Layer - 1 1/2
Next Middle Layer - 1 1/4
Top Layer - 1
STEP 2
You will need to make a slit in all 4 spots on the petal about 1/4 down. Do not cut more than that as you will need the stability of the middle to form the flower.
Your petal is now starting to form
STEP 3
Take your dry embosser and move in small circles in the center of the petal to form a cup but don't press to hard as the card stock does get thin as you do this.
This is what you should have I call it my cup!
STEP 4
Flip the petal over and do the same techniques just to the edges of the petal
Do this for all your petals
STEP 5
Sponge the edges with ink to give it a distressed look
STEP 6
Depending on how you layer your petals will depend on what your flower looks like. Once you have them layed the way you want them you will pierce the center with your piercer to add the brad.
STEP 7
Once the brad is in you will begin to shape your petals. I squeeze it into itself to give it dimension and remember flowers are not all the same shape so have fun with it.
STEP 8
Once I get my desired shape I go back with my piercing tool and roll the petals to give it more shape. You can then add glitter mist or any other glitter product.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial.
